Following a successful 20-year career of service as an officer in the United States Air Force – where he championed worldwide advancements in business operations and technology – Alan Claypool has since focused his experience on leading technology, operations, and innovation efforts for multiple corporate, government and nonprofit organizations.

As a CIO in the Air Force, Alan initiated and implemented the innovative use of technology with both peacetime and combat applications. As the chief of global data systems for U.S. Central Command, he directed operations for multiple critical global networks supporting eighty countries. He also implemented governance and led efforts for the congressional funding request, design, purchase, and installation of a $20 million enterprise architecture strategy.

As commander of the USAF’s largest communications squadron (1,000+), Alan led the service’s largest-ever fiber upgrade and teams performing combat camera/video as well as teams operating and maintaining launch weather, satellite, microwave, and radio systems to support satellite launches into polar orbit and research and development.

As an experienced COO/CIO/CTO/CISO (19 years in C-suite), he’s supported corporate companies in e-publishing, software development, and marketing as well as 41 diverse government departments, including police, fire, engineering, customer service, finance, construction, and utilities. At two energy companies, Alan helped shape the strategic use of data in both the field and at the executive level.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in Business Management.
